West of center: America and the counterculture experiment. Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art exhibit. I went to the opening of this amazing exhibit of photos, flyers, costumes and architecture that was produced by counter cultural figures in the late 60s and early 70s.
“Nude #3” Eva Bertoglio, acrylic on canvas 2012.
I built a wire rack all by myself to continue the transformation of my bedroom into a mini art warehouse.
“Stop asking questions! Manhattan Project!” Assemblage 2010. This piece was particularly difficult to photograph and show all the details. The title is what the lettering says. I read an Oppenheimer biography that led to this piece.
“Fetus” 2010, Acrylic on canvas. The photo has too much shine in it unfortunately but it’s the best I could get. This was during my series of animals inspired by native american painting and carving as well as myths.
“The Evolution of Kali” Found object, 2007
My shrine to a modern goddess of death with barbie dolls.
Recent abstract figure I sold to a friend based on gesture drawings I’ve done.
Arthur Tress, photography. Tress delivered a fantastic lecture tonight at U of O, his work is expansive and covers a huge range of styles and subjects. He said his idol was Picasso as a seventy-year-old artist who has refused to be pinned down to one style. He was funny, laid-back and obviously in possession of a rich and strange internal life. This man is my new spirit animal.
